emergency

I have dreams of escape ! leaving my house, running from nazists, aliens, parents, fire etc. Packing my most beloved belongings or necessities in a swift manner can take me all night long.

split-second

For a split second I thought I saw the Kodak Girl in her stripes again on this site.

Found Lost Books, they have a copy of [A Fool in the Desert, Journeys in Libya] by Babara Toy. She is a lady I will like to know more about for many reasons - one beeing she drove my dream car: the Land Rover Dormobil. Does anyone have a good photograph of miss Toy ?

flashback

A flashback is an interjected scene that takes the narrative back in time from the current point the story has reached. A time-tunnel, an inner view, defocused and color altered by filmschool textbooks.

Memories and time-travel are themes in the film La Jetée by Chris Marker. A filmdirector who works within documentary and pseudo-documentary modes, they mimic the manner in which memory and desire flash from cell to cell – randomly, instantaneously, elliptically. When asked for a picture of himself, Chris Marker usually offers a photograph of a cat instead. His cat is named Guillaume.

something in the air

Saturn's magnificent ring system - a huge disc resembling an old gramophone record - turns out to share another property with the LP: it constantly emits a melodic series of musical notes. More on Cassini's close-up observations.

kodak girl

At the beginning of the twentieth century the Eastman Kodak Company created the Kodak Girl, based on the “New Woman” of ambition, energy, and independence. The public came to read slogans such as: Picture ahead! Kodak as you go! and The snapshot you want tomorrow you must take today.
Let me link you to Martha Cooper's wonderful collection of Kodak girls.

mapping - contour

We have all seen maps of countries which are called relief maps; these look as if a photograph of the country has been made in such a way as to show very plainly the mountains and valleys. Such a map, made out of sand by two boys, is shown here. Another sand map here. One might use a topographical map that shows the altitude. 'Contour lines' on the maps represent changes in elevation. When contour lines are close together, the slope is steep.
What maby cannot translate from one to another dimention is to be found in the first photograph ever.
Happy easter, Zoe Tati

mapping - parkour

Allways wondering how to get from one place to another !
Considering "art du déplacement" parkour, the anarchic new sport of free-running.
" when you're able to move in your own way, then you start to see how parkour changes other things in your life/So, now, I don't say 'I do parkour', but 'I live parkour', because its philosophy has become my life, my way to do everything "
Andreas Kalteis, austrian traceur.
